Delaware North, owner of Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack, has revealed that the company partnered with Miomni Gaming in order to provide turnkey retail and mobile sports wagering services. Both companies will focus on launching retail sportsbooks and online sports wagering services. The partnership will create an exclusive sportsbook technology platform for Delaware North’s gaming properties in states where sports wagering becomes legal.
“In working with Miomni, a recognized expert firm on the technology side, Delaware North is uniquely positioned to become a leader in the emerging sports wagering sector in the United States.” Delaware North’s gaming business president, Brian Hansberry, said. Luisa Woods, Delaware North’s vice president of marketing for its gaming division, said: “We are ideally positioned to be a principal architect in the evolution of gaming entertainment in the United States.”

Mobile betting to rise in West Virginia

West Virginia recently legalized sports betting, and the implementation continues to develop while casinos redesigning their operations to get involved. Mobile betting continues to be one of the most awaited features and could go live in the next few weeks. Vice-president of racing and sports operations at Hollywood Casino, Erich Zimny, confirmed that their operations might expand to mobile this month. “We hope to get it up and running in the next few weeks,” Legal Sports Report quoted” said talking about the mobile app.

Lawmakers to discuss the Sports Betting in West Virginia

The Joint Standing Committee on Finance of West Virginia discussed recent modifications on the Virginia Lottery Commission staff’s effect on sports betting operations. Acting state Lottery director Douglas Buffington II told lawmakers sports betting is progressing in the state.

Committee co-chairman Craig Blair criticized the current status of the commission and revenue officials for not being able to answer specific questions about officials, such as the status of Danielle Boyd, the general counsel for the lottery. “I’ve been on the job for approximately two weeks and dedicating as many resources as I can both at Lottery and the Department of Revenue to bring me up to speed on the comments that have been provided to get those comments answered,” Buffington said. “The casinos are able to move forward under the emergency rules that are in place right now.”
