Illinois Sports betting regulation news

By far Illinois is one of the most interesting states. It’s almost confirmed that sports betting will be live there but unfortunately not quite soon. People in charge of building the betting bill are already working on that. However, it’s not likely that we will see it done this year. It’s highly possible for Illinois to have the gambling activity legalized in 2019.

10/19/2018 – Update

The estimation is that the betting bill be discussed in the beginning of the next year during the General Assembly. Democrats are not willing to rush for legalizing the activity stating that they would rather wait to discuss it during the General Assembly.

10/16/2018 – Update

Springfield will host the second of the two hearings to consider the possibility of legalizing the sports betting as well as the expansion of the gambling industry. The plan involving the adding of new casinos in key towns in the State. Furthermore, slots will be allowed on Horse racing tracks as well as sports betting and DFS.

According to Zalewski ‘’ “If they didn’t need it before, why should they need it now?” he said. “But given that this is going to proliferate rather quickly, I think we’re going to have to reconcile the teams’ and the leagues’ role in this in a real way.”

Online Gambling discussion in Illinois

08/08/2018 – Update

Online gambling will be a topic for discussion again on the next legislative session in Illinois. The state has already seen several bills failing, even though gambling expansion bills are debated all across the US. Two hearings on online gambling regulation have already been confirmed and have been scheduled for August 22nd and October 2nd in Springfield, organized by State Rep. Bob Rita.
